Sweeps Week 2008!

Coming up the week of July 14th is our annual Sweep's Week gathering at the Tech Center in Plainfield. There is no large "sexy" project to do this year but there are a number of small projects that we will be doing. Some are upgrades, some are more like routine maintenance. Either way the best part of Sweep's Week is just being there anyway. A chance to hang out with fellow sweeps and get a little something worthwhile done at the same time. With no large, pressing project, the time should be more laid back, if we have adequate help, that is.

I am assured that there will be plenty of good food to eat and a splendid time to be had by all.

Our fearless leader Kevin Delucenay is somewhat overwhelmed with stuff going on at the home front right now, so he will not be able to play his usual role of head hancho, to keep things moving. He has asked me to be the point man this year. I know that I cannot fill his shoes, but I'll do what I can. So direct any questions, comments, suggestions or contributions my way.

More hands always make the load lighter and makes the work more fun. So I hope that you can find some time that week to come out and join us.

There has been some talk of staging a "bike in" for any of you who ride motorcycles. I'm up for it and a few that I have talked to during the past year have expressed an interest. If you ride and would be willing to ride out to Sweep's Week, let me know. If you don't ride a bike but have an old or new hot rod or some kind of collectible vehicle, that would work too. If we get some interest in this, we may try to organize some kind of fun type field trip in the area. A couple of ideas have already been suggested. If you have a suggestion, let me hear it. If you don't have your own bike or don't want to ride it all the way there, and want to do the field trip thing, there is a Harley shop nearby that rents bikes.
